Polperro is nestled in a small cove on the channel coast of
Cornwall. Patti had her first and best Cornish pasties here. We also had an
excellent lunch at a quaint inn named The House on Props. Their hospitality and food
was first rate. Fried cod, fresh broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes (chips) all
grown in local gardens graced our plates for £2.50 per person (February 1996). The
House of Props was built in the15th century of timbers from a shipwreck. Swans swim in the river Pol which is routed via a manmade channel flowing
through the center of town. Centuries old steps hewn in the bare rock face of
the cove are still visible on the seaward edge of today's dock. |
